I created this page when Fox owned the Dodgers. Thankfully, that is now history. Times have been hard for the Dodgers for several years. So, I am here looking back at Dodger souvenirs of somewhat better times. Here I present Dodger yearbook covers from 1960, 1970, and 1980.

As I write this in 2004, the Dodgers have a new owner and a new GM. Frank McCourt of Boston is the owner. Paul DePodesta is the GM. It's time to hope for a new attitude and new progress in Dodgerland.

It was 1960. The Dodgers were entering their third year in Los Angeles and they were already World Champs, having beaten the White Sox previous October. Manager Walter Alston had a team starring Maury Wills, Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, Wally Moon, Larry Sherry, and plenty of former Brooklyn Dodgers in their waning moments in Dodger blue: Duke Snider, Carl Furillo, Roger Craig, and Clem Labine.

1979!

1970! The Dodgers were in the middle of fairly long drought. They had last won a pennant in 1966 and were not to win one again until 1974. This team's stars included Ted Sizemore, Willie Davis, Wes Parker, Tom Haller, Don Sutton, Jim Lefebvre. Among the younger players in the yearbook were Bill Buckner and Bobby Valentine.

1980! The Dodgers were two years away from their last World Series appearance in 1978 vs. the Yankees, and were to have a resurgence in 1981, winning that Series vs. the good old Yankees. In 1980, the team starred Davey Lopes, Steve Garvey, Ron Cey, Dusty Baker, Don Sutton, Rick Sutcliffe, Reggie Smith, and Bill Russell.

In honor of the former manager of the Milwaukee Brewers, I present the 1980 yearbook page of the great Dodger second baseman Davey Lopes, one of my all-time Dodger favorites.
