Despite my love of the Dodgers, I have always had special interests in other teams: the Albuquerque Dukes, now a team of the past, the Dodger AAA farm team for approximately 30 years which played in my family's adopted city in the Southwest. And on the east coast, my other favorites, the New York Mets. And finally a team I grew up watching the most because I lived right near the ballpark: the New York Yankees, a team I always rooted against but never without admiration for their amazing talents and great history.

Thirty years ago: The Albuquerque Dukes at the beginning of approximately 30 years of being the Dodger AAA farm team.

Twenty years ago: The Mets are four years away from a big championship. That team is beginning to form.

Also twenty years ago: The Yankees are just ending a great run, having won a couple of World Championships in the late 1970s and a pennant in 1981. It'll be awhile until the next big Yankee dynasty in the 1990s.
