I created this page at the beginning of the 2002 baseball season, imagining the images, sounds, and aromas of baseball: "And we can already hear the crack of the bat, the aroma of the fresh cut grass, the thwack of ball against glove, and the smells of peanuts, popcorn, and crackerjacks, not to mention hotdogs. So, in order to get even more into the mood, I thought it would be fun to go back and look at a few baseball images from forty, thirty, twenty and ten years ago."

Forty years ago: It is 1962, the first season at the brand new Dodger Stadium

Thirty years ago: It is 1972, and the Dodgers are in the doldrums, having last won a pennant in 1966. Another pennant is still 2 years away.

Twenty year ago: The Dodgers are the World Champs, having beaten the Yankees in the World Series the previous October.

Ten years ago: The Dodger yearbook has grown. The team is once again looking for a championship. The Dodgers haven't won a post-season game since 1988, a fact which is unfortunately still true today.
